Principal Officer – Permanency Support Programs

The opportunity

RivMed has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Officer to oversee and manage our Permanency Support Programs (PSP), PSP Out of Home Care and PSP Preservation.  The successful applicant will work within a growing supportive and passionate team at Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) to ensure delivery of the highest quality Permanency Support Programs while ensuring the best culturally appropriate outcomes for Aboriginal people.

The Role

The Principal Officer will be responsible for the leadership, management and supervision of RivMed’s two PSP streams.  A major component of the role will be monitoring and ensuring that the programs are meeting their statutory and legal requirements under relevant legislation.  The Principal Officer will be also responsible for providing high level strategic and operational leadership for the programs including risk management and actively participate as a member of executive, reporting to the CEO.

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country.

RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

About you, to be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate you meet the Selection Criteria below:

  • Aboriginality – This is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position and candidates will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality. (NB: applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, counselling, Business, Management, or related field; or equivalent relevant skills and experience
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the PSP and child protection sector with an extensive understanding of the relevant standards, legislation and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) and Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) requirements
  • Experience working with peak bodies, funding agencies, service regulators, strategic partners and community
  • Demonstrated managerial experience including managing budgetary and human resource requirements
  • Current drivers licence and willingness to travel for work related purposes.
