As a Casework Support Worker, you will be primarily responsible for provision of support and assistance to the Foster Care Caseworkers and Team Leader. The Casework Support Worker may also be required to assist the Program Manager.

The successful applicant will work within a supportive and passionate team at Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation to deliver these services and to ensure the best culturally appropriate therapeutic outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and their families.

The Role

 

The Casework Support Worker will contribute to keeping children, young people and families safe by undertaking tasks which support: 

  • case planning and documentation;
  • referrals and appointment;
  • case visits; 
  • safe, reliable and supportive transport of children and their families; 
  • coordination of logistical arrangements for meetings and other information sharing activities; and 
  • day to day team priorities.

The Casework Support Worker will  ensure direct support to Caseworkers and the Team Leader is delivered to a high professional standard by maintaining support practices in line with established RivMed policies and procedures, Office of Children’s Guardian (OCG) standards and in compliance with relevant legislation.

RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

About you

 

 

This is not an Aboriginal identified role however Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants will be looked upon favourably..

 

  1. Minimum qualification is a Diploma in Community Services / counselling or related field; or equivalent relevant experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families..
  2. Current understanding of the permanency support program.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of children & young people who have entered or are about to enter the Foster Care system.
  4. Proven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  5. Demonstrated capacity to network with a range of health, education and welfare services.
  6. Proven ability to write case notes, assessments and reports.
